Pictures Born Digital or Scanned - Sharing Is a Growing Industry

People love pictures!

Whether taking pictures using a digital camera or having old printed ones converted into digital photos by scanning them, we are sharing our pictures these days in many exciting, different ways.

More of us are turning to the ease of storing and sharing their pictures online using sites such as Snapfish, ShutterFly, Flickr or Photobucket. The infographic below first appeared in late summer 2011. It compares most of the main online picture sharing services.

Nearly one year later the landscape has changed slightly. There have been a few new entries trying to fight their way onto the stage. Meanwhile, Kodak Gallery recently was purchased by ShutterFly and is now being consolidated into its service.

Probably one of the most dramatic events to occur is the meteoric rise of the app, Instagram. This application has almost single handedly reinvented photo sharing with over 14 million accounts created in 2011 and 60 photos being uploaded every second of each day!

  1. This Instagram app has been very fun to use. It's always a good thing to be up to date. But of course Digital Cameras from Camera House are always better in terms of resolution and quality.
