The Daytona International Speedway, with its enormous complex has been dubbed the “World Center of Racing.” It boasts a diverse and bustling schedule of racing and community events that according to its website, includes civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo "shoots," production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.
Meanwhile, just less than 1.9 miles east on International Speedway, heading beach-side, the SMP offers a vibrant museum with an impressive international reputation of leadership for photography exhibitions, publications and educational programming.
Since the SMP has ties to many within both the national and international photographic community, they too have been able to establish themselves as capable of providing versatile venues by hosting significant exhibitions.

Since 1992, the Museum has presented more than 300 exhibitions; 300 symposia, lectures, or other programs; and published more than 30 monographs or catalogues.”
